課程概述

In our course this semester we focus on understanding the basic qualities of good English paragraphs written in an academic English style. These qualities are the foundation upon which all academic writing depends in English. Without a strong understanding of these qualities and skill in writing paragraphs, any English composition will be seriously weakened.

In general, approximately one hour of class time each week we will study our textbook, followed by application exercises and peer review group sessions. Individual and small group conferencing on student work will also take place during class time.
Because of the nature of English composition skills, we will frequently use small group work so students can express their understanding of English paragraphs to each other.

Students can expect to have (on average) one writing assignment a week.

課程目標
(1) To develop the skills used in writing academic English paragraphs
(2) To identify each student's weakness in English grammar
(3) To understand the process approach to writing academic English paragraphs
(4) To improve each student's understanding and use of English language arts
